About this Event
Join us for this special CinemARC event, this time themed on Irish culture, fantasy, and medieval manuscripts. Bring all the family along to this event and discover the animals and stories that shape Irish culture. We’re screening the wonderful Irish animated film, The Secret of Kells, sure to be a hit with parents and children alike.
You’ll also have the chance to meet our researchers. Dimitra Fimi, Professor of Fantasy and Children’s Literature, will explore how characters, creatures and motifs from Irish, Welsh and Scottish medieval literature and folklore have shaped modern children's fantasy. Furthemore, there will be a chance to play ’Tunc’, a quick, easy and fun card game devised by Matthew Creasy for this event, inspired by the artwork from the Book of Kells.
