Soak in the Cuban funk sound of Cimafunk at Occidental Square in downtown Seattle. This free outdoor concert is on Thursday, Aug. 14 and is part of Downtown Summer Sounds.Cuban music has a new global ambassador: Cimafunk. With a name and image that pays tribute to the Cimarrons – Cubans of African descent that resisted slavery – the med school student-turned-funk artist has developed into a cultural phenomenon that unites and celebrates blackness across borders, oceans and languages. From New Orleans Jazz Festival and Lollapalooza Chile to becoming the first Cuban-born artist to play Coachella, this undisputed star of Afro-Latin music has earned the adoration of musical icons and fans across the globe.
The Downtown Seattle Association is proud to present Downtown Summer Sounds, our summer concert series that has been bringing free live, local music to downtown Seattle for more than 45 years. We’re hosting outdoor concerts across downtown from July 11-Aug. 28: https://downtownseattle.org/events/downtown-summer-sounds/
The Downtown Summer Sounds concert series is funded by the Metropolitan Improvement District ratepayers and presented by Amazon.
