About this Event
Speechwriters are often called ‘gregarious loners’, but part of our education is talking to people and working out what they’re thinking. For this reason we thought a ‘live’ Christmas party is worth having.
Join us upstairs at The Speaker pub in Whitehall and meet fellow speechwriters in an informal environment. Please mention at the bar when you buy your drinks that you’re with the speechwriters’ party.
The UK Speechwriters’ Guild has among its supporters a number of authors, who are sharing their ideas and insights in newly published books this Christmas.
Turn up to our drinks and listen to three of them who will give us a flavour of what their book is about.
Paul Richards has written A Guide to Parliamentary Speechwriting: A practical guide for politicians and speechwriters.
Lewis Baston has written Borderlines, A History of Europe Told from the Edges.
Brian Jenner has written A Speechwriters' Notebook 2025, Jokes, quotations and ideas to help you influence people with words.
They will each be giving a very short pitch about their new works and you will be able to mingle with the assembled speechwriters, political aparatchiks and accompanying book lovers.
