Chinese Painting on Lanterns - A Workshop
Join us in celebrating the Lunar New Year by crafting your very own lantern! Create your own Lunar New Year decoration and learn traditional painting techniques from a local artist.
This workshop will be hosted at 92 degrees Spinningfields and tickets include any hot or cold drink from the menu.
We will teach you how to create your own Lantern and decorate it using Chinese Brush Painting. Participants will use traditional materials, including bamboo brushes, ink, and vibrant mineral paints."
The workshop will begin with a demonstration from our teacher and local Artist Ula Fung. She will teach you some basic painting techniques and before you start on your Lantern you will warm up by painting onto Rice paper. We will bring along a selection of references themed on the Lunar New Year. You will then have a chance to think about your design before building and painting your Lantern.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and up so if you haven't picked up a paint brush since school or you regularly paint in your own time, everybody is welcome to create together.
This workshop is located in 92 degrees coffee in Spinningfields. Be mindful of the cafe's locaiton which is inside of the 'No.1 Spinningfields' Building, opposite M & S Food. Any hot drink from the menu is included within your ticket price as well as a 10% discount for any food purchased on the day, feel free to arrive early for a quick discounted brunch before the workshops begins!
*Towards the end of the workshop there will be an opportunity for you to get your photo taken. We will use these photos for social media and promotional use. Please let us know if you're not comfortable with this.

- Felt mats
- Rice paper lantern
