Introduction
We would be delighted to welcome you to the Chinese New Year Celebrations 2025, presented by the Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow. This fantastic evening of traditional Chinese performances will take place on-campus (venue TBC) on Friday the 31st January 2025 between 6:30pm and 8:00pm.
The event is designed to celebrate the Spring Festival, which this year marks the beginning of the new year of the Snake in the Chinese lunisolar calendar. Performances include Sichuan face changing, dancing, live music, magic, and more.
Event Programme
6:30pm–7:00pm: Lion Dance, University Cloisters.
7:00pm–7:05pm: Guests are invited to be seated for the performance (venue TBC).
7:05pm-7:10pm: Welcome & Greetings.
7:10pm-8:00pm: Performances of live music, opera, dancing and magic.
Venue
This year the Lion Dance will take place in the the University Cloisters (Main Building, Gilmorehill Campus, University of Glasgow, West Quadrangle, Glasgow, G12 8QQ) and the performance will take place in a venue on-campus close by (venue TBC - more details to follow soon!). Entry to the Cloisters venue can be made either at the Main Gate entrance or the Flagpole entrance.
This is a family friendly event, open to all staff, students and members of the public. Tickets are completely free, but as numbers are limited, we would encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your place.
