The sixth of six free craft workshops running at the Eco-Hub. This session will be on upcycling food packaging.
About this Event

Join us for an eco-friendly craft session! You are invited to take part in a creative food packaging upcycling workshop.

How will the session work?:

We will use the packaging from large onion bags from independent grocers to make little lined pouches/toiletry bags/pencil cases with zippers. This is a simple sewing project which is achievable for beginners with a satisfying result. The pouches will be waterproof and feature fun designs from the onion packaging.

No experience is needed, just enthusiasm and willingness to learn! Tea and Coffee will be available to purchase on the day for 50p a cup. This workshop is for university staff, students and the wider Glagsow community!

Event Information:

The event will take place in Room 206 on Level 2 of the Boyd Orr Building (Previously the Piccolino Cafe). You can find directions here. The workshop takes place from 12:30 PM -3:30 PM.

There is an accesible entrance to the Eco-Hub via University Gardens and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub for those who need it. If you have any additional accessiblity issues, please contact Lauren (lauren.crilly@glasgow.ac.uk) and she will be happy to support if possible. There are 10 tickets available for this workshop. If you can't make the event, please cancel your ticket in advance or contact Lauren so we can keep on top of numbers.

Additional Info on the Eco-Hub: The new Eco-Hub offers services that benefit both people and the planet. The Eco-Hub is for staff, students and the wider community and has been introduced by the Sustainability Team, Student & Academic Services and GUEST (Glasgow University Environmental and Sustainability Team). We host a permanent community fridge and a swap-shop as part of the GUEST Student2Student Essentials Programme. We offer regular activities such as plant swaps, bike repair sessions and practical climate-engaged workshops like clothing repair sessions and sustainable crafting. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 10am - 6pm.
