Join us for a small, hands-on workshop exploring the beauty and symbolism of traditional Chinese knot-making.

Chinese knots are decorative crafts made from a single continuous cord, traditionally symbolising good luck, unity, harmony, and well-wishing. They are commonly seen during festivals and celebrations and carry meaningful cultural messages through their elegant patterns.

The session will begin with a short introduction to the history and cultural meanings behind Chinese knots. Participants will then learn the basic techniques of knot-making through step-by-step guidance and demonstrations.

By the end of the workshop, everyone will create their own handmade Chinese knot to take home.

This relaxed and welcoming workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone curious about traditional crafts and Chinese cultural heritage.

No prior experience is required. All materials will be provided.

Artist:

Yuetong Wu is a postgraduate student in Museum Education with a strong interest in cultural engagement and participatory learning.
