All aboard the Chickamauga Turn for a 6-hour ride to the historic Civil War town of Chickamauga, Georgia, via the former Central of Georgia Railroad.
We will leave from Atlanta at 7:00am to head up to Chattanooga for the train ride. During the trip, enjoy a 90-minute layover in downtown Chickamauga, where you can visit the historic Crawfish Springs or the Gordon-Lee Mansion. There are also several shops and dining locations in town.
The home and grounds are historically significant for several reasons. The grounds were home to the Cherokee Courthouse prior to the displacement of the Cherokees in the Trail of Tears. Also, it is one of very few remaining structures used by both Union and Confederate forces during the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863. Union General William Rosecrans used the parlor of the home as his headquarters during that battle. Both Union and Confederate troops were treated in the field hospital in the house and on the grounds during that battle.
This is the weekend for their 50th Annual Down Home Festival in downtown Chickamauga. There will be over 160 craft and food vendors, live music, Kids Zone, pony rides and so much more

We'll board the train and head back to the train depot. Then make our way back home with a stop at Buc-ee's.
