About this Event
The Puppets are Coming! Art on Sedgwick and Marshall Field Gardens Community Center are thrilled to welcome the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival to Old Town as part of their FREE Neighborhood Tour. The festival has two objectives:
- To cultivate the imagination through the traditions and contemporary practices of the art of puppetry.
- To establish Chicago as a cultural center for puppetry by presenting work of the highest quality as well as creating access to leaders and innovators in the art form through workshops and classes.
This year's show is The Amazing Story Machine, which runs on steam and dreams and promises to revolutionize how stories are told. When the contraption malfunctions, the Grimm family have to invent a way to tell stories on the spot. With help from the audience and a cast of unique puppet characters, fairy tales like “The Hare and the Hedgehog,” “Hansel and Gretel,” and “The Brave Little Tailor” spring to life.
The Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival:Free Neighborhood Tour fosters an appreciation of puppetry in every corner of the city. All ages are welcome. Reservations are recommended for this free event.
