Beneath warm, amber light in a small attic room, there are only two tables, a tape recorder, and a collection of lives waiting to be entrusted.

This is an experiment about drink and imprint. We invite you to entrust to literature and art those stories you only dare speak when tipsy.

Forgetting is inevitable, but words and brushstrokes can make this moment last. Tonight, we won’t be drinking alone, and we will listen to stories.

Event Overview

• Under warm, amber light, each participant has 2 minutes to speak into a recorder (or directly to the author Oceanlaugh) and tell a true, personal story about alcohol in their life.
• All stories will be fully recorded and archived.
• Artist Rob will produce an improvised sketch for each story live, which will be projected on a large screen for the room to see.
• Selected stories may be adapted by Oceanlaugh into short fiction and included in a special edition/feature of Never Drink Alone (《存酒人》).

*A fragment of your life will become an indelible page in literature.

Participation process

G/F — Registration

• Full in basic information and receive your exclusive “Wine Keeping” ticket stub.
• Proceed upstairs to the attic and take a seat at one of the tables.
• Use up to 2 minutes to tell a truthful, alcohol-related episode from your life. These two minutes are more than speech—they are the act of depositing a life fragment here. Passersby and traces, kept forever within the book. (You may speak to the recorder or directly to Oceanlaugh.)
• While you speak, artist Rob will improvise a sketch as an illustration for your story; the drawing will be shown simultaneously on the projector so other attendees can witness the collaborative creation.
• After you finish, you will be given a small glass of liquor (or a specially prepared non-alcoholic drink).
• This toast signifies that your story has been received, understood, transformed, and formally “kept” in the project.

Future developments and ongoing value

• All collected recordings may be adapted by the author, Oceanlaugh into short stories and published in a special edition/feature of Never Drink Alone (《存酒人》).
• Participants’ stories will not merely be heard; they will be embedded into literature and preserved for posterity.
