About the TourAre you a gardener? Are you a self-proclaimed “tree geek”? Are you a Denver history buff? Do you like long walks in the park? Then, you may enjoy taking a walk with the Colorado Tree Coalition to learn more about Colorado’s Champion Trees!
This 3-mile walking tour will feature nearly 30 of Colorado’s Champion Trees and some of the history around community forestry in Denver at South High School, Washington Park, and the surrounding neighborhood.

At 12:30 pm, CTC is offering an optional/bonus walk (~1 mile loop) at Cheesman Park, where there are an additional nine Champion Trees in this historic park that was once a cemetery.
What is a Champion Tree?
The Colorado Tree Coalition maintains a record of the three largest trees for each species in the state. These trees are the largest trees of their species for the state and are representative of Colorado’s rich history and diverse ecosystems. By documenting these important trees, we can promote their conservation and protection for future generations of Coloradoans.
