About this Event

Join the Portrait Gallery and Ground Shift Studios for a fun-filled afternoon chalk-in. Open to participants of all ages, this program celebrates the 250th of America's founding! Families, friends, and art lovers alike are invited to gather on the F Street sidewalk in front of the National Portrait Gallery for some colorful summer fun.

Enjoy interactive chalk games, create your own chalk portraits, and soak in the lively atmosphere alongside special guest, the DowntownDC BID.

Afterward, join us in the museum's Kogod Courtyard for more chalk fun during the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Take 5: Jazz at SAAM concert series!

No registration is necessary.


Schedule:

3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Outdoor chalking activities with Groundshift Studios

5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Indoor "Take 5: Jazz at SAAM" program with the Smithsonian American Art Museum
