About this Event
Learn how to advocate for the value of interior design through developing and constructing safe and healthy spaces. Interior designers have a responsibility to advocate for their profession. How you, as a practitioner, represent interior design impacts public perception of the profession – from your family and friends in your immediate circle, to your colleagues and peers in your professional network, to your clients and the end users in your projects. Trust is built between you and these various audiences when you develop the interior environment by applying your knowledge of codes, policies, standards, and more. If you don’t advocate for the value of interior design, who will?
As Associate Director of Government and Public Affairs for ASID, Lauren A. Earley, Esq. advocates for the interior design profession by leading the Society’s legislative, regulatory, and policy efforts at the state and federal levels. Lauren completed a fellowship with ASID in fall 2020 and represented property owners’ associations and condominium unit owners’ associations as a law firm associate in 2021, before returning to ASID in spring 2022. In her career, Lauren has advanced the interests of those who work and exist in the built environment by advocating for stronger practice rights for ASID members and advising clients on disaster mitigation strategies. Previously, Lauren worked in law, politics, and government relations, including as a Congressional staffer for a United States Senator on Capitol Hill. She has long been passionate about the rights of women and individuals with disabilities, which her advocacy efforts for the interior design profession address and help support. Lauren holds a B.S. in Business Economics from the University of South Carolina (Columbia, South Carolina) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law (Richmond, Virginia), where she graduated cum laude and earned the Carrico Center for Pro Bono & Public Service Certificate for completing over 250 hours of legal and community services. She is a licensed attorney in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
