About this Event
CERT-trained citizens play an important role in fire and utility safety. In this course you will learn the ins and outs of fire chemistry and how to use an extinguisher to put out small fires (including how to size-up the situation); when and how to shut off utilities; and basic procedures on how to recognize and identify hazardous materials. We will also discuss fire weather and the conditions that affect the City of Berkeley and surrounding areas, including identifying evacuation routes.
