Please note that both the CEO/Director/Manager AND the Board Chair of the company/organisation must both be in attendance at the workshop.


This interactive, tutor-led workshop will explore the dynamic between the CEO/Director/Manager and the Chair of an organisation, helping you both to better navigate the complex landscape of governance, strategy, and board leadership.

Key Topics Covered:

  • The changing environment in which board members and charities have to operate;
  • Ensuring a deep understanding by Chair and CEO of the fundamentals of governance;
  • Role and expectations of Chair;
  • Ensuring boards fulfil their governance role;
  • The three key strands of governance: corporate/fiduciary; strategic and impact;
  • Making informed decisions;
  • Making sure your board is addressing the right issues;
  • Chair/CEO and CEO/board relationship: Behaviours that can damage the relationship;
  • Refreshing the board and finding new board members;
  • Case study exercise.

There will be two short breaks and a one-hour lunch break taken during this workshop.

COST: €50* per person


HOW TO APPLY

You will be asked to briefly outline your professional industry experience and why you would find this training session beneficial, in order to confirm your suitability for this workshop. The CEO/Director/Manager and Board Chair should make separate applications, outlining clearly which organisation they are representing.


TRAINING FEE BURSARIES

*A limited number of training fees bursaries are available for freelance artists, arts & creative workers to cover the cost of this course. Places will be offered based on eligibility ​and on a first come first served basis. Please outline your request for a fees bursary on our Training Requests Form.


TRAVEL / ACCOMMODATION BURSARIES

Safe to Create is delighted to offer a limited number of travel and/or accommodation bursaries to participants based outside the host city as necessary. Applicants must be resident on the island of Ireland. Please outline your request for a travel/accommodation bursary on our Training Requests Form.
