This gig marks the culmination of the first phase of Under the Same Sky, Centrala’s anti-racism campaign created in response to the 2024 racist riots and the ongoing social divisions that followed. Through exhibitions, workshops, and performances, the campaign has brought together migrant and non-migrant communities to stand against hate, promote dialogue, and celebrate diversity.
RAY AGGS
A Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Ray Aggs is known for their electrifying blend of post-punk and highlife influences. Having toured internationally with Trash Kit, Shopping, and Sacred Paws, Aggs has become a defining voice in the UK’s DIY music scene. Through zines and workshops empowering women, non-binary people, and people of colour to form bands, Aggs continues to inspire a new generation of creators. Their solo releases, including Tape 1 and Visitations, pulse with life-affirming beats, lyrical mantras, and razor-sharp guitar lines that speak directly to the heart.
HARRGA
Formed by producer and philosopher Miguel Prado (Nzumbe) and experimental vocalist Dali de Saint Paul (EP/64, Viridian Ensemble), Harrga (“a burn” in Moroccan Darija) weave industrial noise, political poetics, and visceral emotion into a sound that defies boundaries. Their acclaimed debut Héroïques Animaux de la Misère was a haunting reflection on displacement and violence at borders, featuring Moor Mother. Since then, they’ve continued to challenge and reimagine industrial soundscapes, merging sonic experimentation with sharp social critique.
ZD GRAFTERS
Birmingham’s own ZD Grafters are carving a name for themselves in the UK’s experimental scene. Their distinctive blend of jazz, sludge, and math rock has been hailed as “brutish churn” by The Quietus, and their live sets are an unrelenting, improvisational burst of energy. Expect deep grooves, free playing, and an intensity that defies categorisation.
ZYGGURAT
Zyggurat, an electronic music project by Pete Grimshaw on modular synthesizer, featuring and Nathan England-Jones on drums. The band have received acclaim for their skilful and spontaneous jazz, modular synth performances, drawing special praise for the sonic interplay between the synth work and the organic flow of the drums.
Zyggurat combines the technological prowess of the modular synth with an acoustic drum kit and conjures up imageries of the cosmos, urban jungles under city lights, and the forces of the natural world.
PULSAR
Hailing from the Black Country, Pulsar fuse post-punk, jazz, and post-hardcore into a sound that’s both urgent and unpredictable. Their dynamic performances channel emotion into rhythm and resistance, perfectly at home in a night that celebrates defiance and unity.
