We will bring chilled Jack Black Beer to enjoy afterwards and ask that you contribute to the Volunteer Wildfire Volunteers - https://vws.org.za/vws-support/On Thursday, 29 January 2026, we meet at Kloof Nek for the run to start at 18:00. We will run the Pipe Track Trail Route.
Meet in the parking area on the left just 100 metres up Tafelberg Road from the traffic circle on Kloof Nek (where the Sanparks info centre is). We will do the Pipe Track circuit.
We set out on the pipe track on the other side of Tafelberg Road from Kloof Nek. The route starts out single track with an early climb to get the legs warm with a beautiful view of Camps Bay. About a km after the climb once the trail has evened out (about 2km in), we drop down a short steep path onto the jeep tracks below to get a nice break from the technical track above and the treat of a few gradual hills taking us back up to the pipe track over 2.5km. Once above we return along the single track for a fairly flat 2km of easy but technical trail before the final sting in the tail and a view if you are able to enjoy it and all the way back, staring down the Lion until popping back out on Kloof Nek.
Difficulty grading: 7/10 (undulating with a few hills, includes a fair share of single track with loose rocks and jeep track with a small section of tar at the end)
Distance is about 8km.
Fast, Fast-Medium, Medium and Medium-slow pace options available, each with an experienced group leader to cater for different speeds, so provided you can run a flat 10kms in less than 65 minutes, there will be a group for you.
NB: PLEASE ALL DO YOUR BEST TO STAY IN YOUR GROUPS - MOST PARTICULARLY DO NOT RUN AHEAD OF YOUR GROUP LEADER. If you are new to the runs and unsure of the pace of the various groups, then rather run with a slower group initially.
