Let's mark 15 years of Open Out with a fun DIY hair colouring workshop. Get ready to unleash your inner colourist!
About this Event

To celebrate our 15th birthday, we’re hosting a series of workshops in March 2026. These workshops are a fundraiser and a way to grow our Patreon scheme, which helps us provide home visits for disabled clients and subsidised services for low-income clients.

By attending this workshop, you’re supporting more accessible hair care — thank you 💛

What is this workshop?

This is a step-by-step, beginner-friendly workshop that teaches you how to colour your own hair at home safely and confidently.

You will not have your hair coloured during the workshop. Instead, you’ll learn how to do it yourself at home, with clear guidance and time to ask questions.

The workshop includes a mix of theory, demonstrations, and hands-on learning to help you understand the full process.

Workshop leader

This workshop is led by Davidas Andraikenas, a stylist at Open Out for four years, with over 15 years of professional hair colouring experience.

Davidas trained with various colour brands and has extensive experience colouring all hair types — including their own (back when they had some!).

They’re excited to share practical knowledge to make at-home hair colouring more affordable, accessible, and less intimidating.

Topics we’ll cover:
  • Hair science (how hair works and reacts to colour)
  • Colour theory (choosing the right shade)
  • Product knowledge (what to buy and what to avoid)
  • Health and safety
  • Tools and equipment
  • How to handle your own hair
  • Step-by-step colour application process
  • Looking after your hair after colouring (maintenance)

Everything is explained clearly and at a steady pace.

  • People with some experience who want more confidence or guidance
