Please plan to login by 8:40 AM to check-in. We will start promptly at 8:45 AM

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED LEVEL: Target audience: therapeutic professionals, including psychologists, social workers, physicians, and educators

The workshop will provide participants with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies that target the common avoidance behaviors and cognitive distortions associated with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, and Separation Anxiety Disorder. Participants will learn ways to move away from the “content trap” of anxiety to help children and families learn to recognize the process of anxiety and how to effectively respond. CBT strategies that relate to the treatment goals of increasing tolerance of uncertainty, willingness to be uncomfortable, and exposure and response prevention (ERP) will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives

1. Discuss the role of avoidance in the maintenance of anxiety disorders and the reasons to target behavioral avoidance.

2. List at least three in session activities to include in psychoeducation about the CBT model for anxiety.

3. Explain how to create ERP goals for specific anxiety disorders.

4. List at least three in session activities for cognitive restructuring for specific anxiety disorders.
