Catalysing Action on Gender and Equity in AMR: Lessons from GEAR-UP Consortium
Join us for an inspiring and thought-provoking session at the next Inspirational Women Speaker Series hosted by the LSTM Women’s Network.
We’re delighted to welcome Professor Sally Theobald and Dr Rosie Steege, who—alongside partners from Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya, and Nepal—will share powerful insights from their work with the GEAR-UP Consortium.
GEAR-UP is driving meaningful change by tackling gender and equity challenges within Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The programme supports Fleming Fund country grantees to embed inclusive, equitable approaches into everyday AMR systems and structures—helping ensure that solutions work for everyone.
With over 25 years of experience, Sally brings a wealth of expertise in global health research, gender equity, and health systems strengthening. Her work spans collaborations with ministries, research institutions, and civil society across Africa and Asia, shaping more inclusive health systems worldwide.
Rosie, the Gender Equity Lead for GEAR-UP, is a social scientist and health systems researcher dedicated to advancing inclusive healthcare. Her research focuses on intersectional approaches to complex global challenges—particularly AMR—ensuring that equity remains at the heart of health system responses.
The event will take place in Learn 3, Pembroke House, L3 5PH. Online access is available only to those outside of the UK.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from leading voices in gender equity and global health, and to be part of an important conversation shaping the future of AMR responses.
