Their meeting is grounded in a shared approach: playing music that is alive, open, constantly evolving, where listening and presence take precedence over styles or categories. Casimir Liberski develops a wide-ranging practice, moving from contemporary jazz to acoustic and electronic experimentation, shaped by a long international trajectory. Grigoris Theodoridis brings a great freedom of improvisation, grounded in a solid jazz foundation developed through his years in The Hague, Athens, and on international stages. Eric Thielemans, a major figure in Belgian experimental music, bridges jazz, performance, conceptual art and a deep exploration of sonic spatiality. The trio draws inspiration from certain notions found in Japanese aesthetics, particularly ma, the attention given to the space between sounds, and an idea of the music’s natural unfolding. They treat these not as theoretical concepts but as ways of approaching collective playing. On stage, this results in music that is flexible, responsive, at times intimate, at times energetic, able to move fluidly from composed forms to the freest improvisation. A trio attuned to the moment, capable of navigating a wide sonic spectrum with imagination and ease.
