About this Event
Colombian pianist and composer Carolina Calvache seamlessly blends sounds influenced by jazz, classical, and Latin American folk and popular music. Her debut release Sotareno featured jazz masters Antonio Sanchez, Jaleel Shaw, and Michael Rodriguez and was named one of the Best 10 Albums of 2014 by the Colombia al Dia Awards. She has performed at the Apollo Theater, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and jazz festivals across the Americas and Europe.
Carolina holds degrees from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York. Her music draws on the rich traditions of her Colombian roots while speaking the universal language of jazz improvisation. Two sets at the Blue Room — don't miss this one.
