Rite of Joy Slam
A Spoken Word Poetry Competition
Get ready for an unforgettable night of powerful poetry, culture, and community at the Rite of Joy Slam.
As part of the Rite of Joy Conference, this high-energy spoken-word competition brings together some of the most dynamic poets and storytellers for a night when words hit deep, truth is spoken boldly, and the audience becomes part of the experience.
Poets will take the stage to perform original work that is raw, inspiring, funny, healing, and unapologetically real. From deeply personal stories to sharp social commentary, every performance brings something unforgettable to the mic.
This year’s slam features over $2,000 in prizes, and the first-place winner will earn a spot to compete at the Blackberry Peach National Poetry Slam.
The stakes go even higher. The winner of the Blackberry Peach National Poetry Slam will go on to represent the United States at the World Poetry Slam in Japan in 2027.
In addition to the slam, the evening will also feature a local Author Fair, where attendees can meet writers, discover new books, and support local authors. The event will also include a short youth poetry component, highlighting young voices and giving emerging poets an opportunity to share their work on stage.
