About this Event
Carole Wise is a Maine-based singer songwriter. She is the consummate performer. Her guitar/mandolin playing is both intricate and straight forward and her lyrics are nuanced, lyrical and both personal and universal.
We the listeners are not likely to have songs written about or for us, yet, in listening to Carole’s songs - we come close. Every song offers us a chance to connect to something: a feeling, a thought, a fear, a hope. She evokes something familiar - something we have felt, thought or worried about - as though she knew us.
Carole’s music is not afraid. She sings about love, loss, society’s issues, finding self, but always with a silver lining - a belief that every experience is an opportunity to be or do better. Her music is born of her heart, starting as a feeling - often while communing with nature - a personal reaction to a moment in time, or the release of deep rooted feelings. The clarity of meaning in her writing then transcends the personal to a universal connection.
As listeners, we can recognize pieces of our own life’s journey. Like hearing that song on the radio that magically seems to speak to what we are feeling at just that moment, listening to Carole’s CD, or most wonderfully in person, is a chance meeting that brings us closer to ourselves.
Carole’s first CD, The Long Way Home, charted in the top 20 on Folk radio in 2021. In 2022, she performed 65 virtual shows and live at venues that provided safe spaces during the pandemic spikes. In 2023, she drove over 28,000 miles, and flew over 15,000 miles, performing on well known stages across much of the country (CA, MD, IL, MA, ME, CO, UT). Wise opened for Vance Gilbert at the Troubadour in Morristown, NJ, and she will headline there this March.
Between travel and performances, Carole has been in the studio and her new CD, North Star, has a release of February 2, 2024. Wise released a single, In My Hometown, on December 29, 2023, in response to the October tragedy in Lewiston, Maine, which is Carole’s hometown.
