Comedy for Musical Theatre Pros MARCH MASTERCLASSES


After much demand from the theatre community at the height of audition season, I am thrilled to offer my FIRST EVER in-person Comedy Masterclass Series curated specifically for Musical Theatre Professionals!


Capping the class at 12 participants, it will be blend of learning the fundamentals of improv, sketch and character to then infuse into your 32-bar comedy cut in an intimate environment.


Important note: This is a warm, non-competitive environment. Please bring a positive attitude and be ready to work with your peers.

FORMAT OF CLASS - 3 HOURS

HOUR 1

10 Minute Group Warm-Up and Intros

20 Minute Written Character Exercise in Pairs

10 Minutes Improv and Sketch Fundamentals Lecture

20 Minutes Improv Mix & Match


HOUR 2 & 3

Each student gets a 10-minute individual work session with Carlie and the accompanist to present and punch-up their comedy cut.


ABOUT THE TEACHER

Carlie Craig is a musical comedy writer and producing artist most known for her work on MADtv and First Impressions with Dana Carvey. Carlie has also appeared on comedy programs such as NBC's Will & Grace, Kevin Hart's The Donors and AppleTV's WonderPets.

She is most known in the theatre space for her original one-woman musicals, Emotional Rollercoaster and Have Several Seats, which she performed to sold-out audiences in both New York and Los Angeles at venues such as Rockwell Table & Stage, The Colony Theatre and Feinstein's LA/NY.

As a comedy teacher, Carlie is the proud founder of the PTW Comedy Crew, a troupe of young comedians ages 7-14 in Millburn, NJ, where she develops original material in the areas of stand-up and sketch.
