About this Event
The Antenatal Skills Class for new parents-to-be is an optional Part 2 of our Antenatal, Birth and Postnatal Education programme.
Please make sure that you have completed Part 1: the virtual Birth and Postnatal Education Workshop prior to attending this class. The virtual session covers all essential information. The booking form for it is available via: (https://forms.office.com/r/PLG1ZbJNn7).
These additional sessions are designed for those who are >32 weeks into their pregnancy, so as to ensure that you meet other parents whose babies will be due around the same time as yours, and to enable those who are close to their due date can attend.
This in-person Antenatal Skills Class is led by the Community Midwives and provides practical, hands-on experience and covers essential topics such as bathing a baby, dressing a baby, labour positions and much more. It is designed to give you confidence in practical skills in preparation for your baby’s arrival. It is also a great opportunity to meet other expectant parents in Cardiff and Vale!
This session also includes a tour of the Midwifery Led Unit (dependent on ward activity). The session will be held in the Parent-Craft room (just before the entrance to the Midwifery Led Unit) at UHW.
Due to high demand, each (1) ticket covers attendance for the pregnant person and one support person only. Please only book one ticket per couple. Ticket cost is £20 per couple to ensure attendance and cover cost of room and refreshments.
This class does not include discussion on infant feeding/breastfeeding. If you are interested in attending the Breastfeeding Workshop, led by our Infant Feeding Lead Midwife, please use this link to sign up: Antenatal Breastfeeding Workshop (office.com)
