Capture the Flag 28th March 6:45pm
Note: training is still on at 6:00pm unless advised otherwise from your coaches.
Everyone is to meet at main bottom ( all sides including coaches and trainers etc) oval no later than 6:35pm, where teams will be divided into 2 mixed groups with captains (appointed by coaches). Rules and concept of the game will be read out by Georgia Lacy.
Each team will have approximately 3-5 minutes to group together and discuss any game plans. Captains, this is when you will step in and direct your team.
For anyone who won’t be participating volunteers will be much appreciated to monitor the game and make sure players are playing by the rules. If not, they will be placed out of the game.
Objective:
Players to worker together and steal the other team’s football and bring back to home base without getting tagged.
GAME RULES
Each team will start at each end of the oval (near goal posts), once the whistle blows, the game will commence.
Instead of a flag, each teach will have a football which will start at each teams home base.
1. Once the game commences, each team are allowed to run anywhere within the perimeter of the oval. Once players cross the halfway line and are in “enemy territory” (other teams’ side of the field where their home base is) they are allowed to be tagged.
2. If a player is ‘tagged’ then they will have to sit down in the spot they were tagged in and wait for a teammate to ‘revive’ them. Teammates can save their fellow teammates that have been tagged by tapping them without being tagged themselves. Both players can then continue to move on once done so.
3. Each player will have x2 lives (2 opportunities to be tagged before being eliminated out of the game).
4. Player’s “lives” will be represented as coloured ribbons that can either be tied around their wrists etc or tucked into their shorts (if they are visible).
5. Once a player is ‘tagged’ and loses a life, they will dispose one of their ribbons.
6. Players who are eliminated (either by breaking the rules or losing both there 2 lives) will then spectate on the side for the remainder of the game and can watch.
7. Players who have possession of the other team’s football can either run with the ball and or handball to another teammate.
8. Anyone player who’s holding the ball and is tagged will drop the ball from where they stand.
9. When a ball is left unattended on the field, players can try to collect the ball and continue to their home base or be returned to base (if it’s your own team’s ball).
10. There will be several yellow markers placed among the field that will represent “safe zones”. If a player reaches the marker, they cannot be tagged by an opposing teammate. The player can only be tagged once they are no longer on the marker. Players can opt to stay on the marker for however long.
11. Only one player per marker. If two players are found on the marker then both players can be tagged.
12. No tackling is involved. No physical contact other than touching the other opponent to ‘tag’.
13. No kicking. Only handballing.
14. Players are allowed to run with the ball for however long without being tagged.
15. Players cannot hide nor touch their own team’s football unless disposed of in the field by opposition team.
Tagging = another player from the opposition team touches the player (no tackling!)
