The world is working hard to allow music to be created and performed by all gender identities. It doesn't always happen, if you just look at the number of female conductors. Capriccio has now a female conductor, Ailien de Beer, for 2 years. On January 1, 2022, she took over orchestra from her father and founder of Capriccio Clarinet Orchestra, John de Beer. He passed away on januari13th.
Nowadays, more and more female musicians, conductors and composers are taking to the stage. This was not obvious in the past, but they did exist! This also applies to Cécile Chaminade, a female composer and pianist from the 19th century. She has written beautiful works and also an orchestral suite Callirhoë, a symphonic ballet. Critics had great admiration for the many qualities of the composer, in her time she was popular for a female composer.
A premiere at the ClarinetFest, because Capriccio Clarinet Orchestra will play the symphonic ballet Callirhoë for you. Ailien de Beer has arrenged the piece for clarinet orchestra so that female composers are not forgotten.
