About this Event
Can’t Boishakh
Saturday, May 2 | 7PM – 11PM
2680 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough
This summer, we’re doing things a little differently.
We’re focusing on giving back to the community. Building something real. Growing together.
And we’re starting with the most Bengali thing possible, Boishakh.
Because let’s be honest, we celebrate it for one day and then just let the energy die.
We’re not doing that this year.
This is Can’t Boishakh, our take on Pohela Boishakh.
A night that feels like home.
Food, music, chaos, nostalgia, random conversations with strangers that somehow feel familiar.
The Space
Shoutout to Ruposhi Bangla for opening up their space to us and trusting what we’re building.
This only works because of people like them, businesses that actually care about the culture and the community, not just selling to it.
The Food
This one matters.
They’re putting together a proper Pohela Boishakh all-you-can-eat buffet:
- Pantha bhaat
- 6 types of bhorta
- Bhaat, daal
- Beef, chicken tikka, dim bhuna
- Alu bhaji, begun bhaji
- Naan
- Fuchka
- Gulab jamun
- Bottomless chaa
Ilish is available as a $5 add-on.
The Flow
- 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Pull up, grab appetizers, and talk to people.
This is honestly the most important part. - From 8:00 PM
Live music and performances start. - 9:30 PM onwards
Buffet opens. Eat properly.
The Vibe
Traditional fits.
Show up like it’s Boishakh.
This is also the night to bring your non-Bengali friends.
If you’ve ever said “you won’t get it unless you experience it”, this is where you prove it.
Important Details
- This is a non-alcoholic event. Always has been, always will be.
- Capacity is capped at 50 people. Once it’s full, it’s full.
- 13+ event
Tickets
We’ve always kept our events at $20 because this was never about profit.
But for this one, the food is part of the experience, so:
- $25 buffet
- $20 event cover
Total: $45 + Eventbrite fees
We’re not offering entry without the buffet.
This isn’t just a ticket, it’s supporting the people and spaces that make this possible.
All sales are final.
Why This Exists
Can’t Social was never meant to be just events.
It’s a space to meet people without it feeling forced.
To actually talk.
To feel like you belong somewhere without trying too hard.
Let’s not let Boishakh be a one-day thing.
Let’s carry it properly.
