There is power in being informed! Please join the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area, The George Washington University, and the League of Women Voters of DC for a nonpartisan Candidates Forum for the DC Mayor's race on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The event will be moderated by Frank Sesno, an Emmy-award winning journalist, former CNN contributer and Washington Bureau Chief, and former Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University. Attendees will hear from candidates on issues that are of great importance to our community including housing, education, workforce development, economy, healthcare, DC's autonomy, and more.

ABOUT US:

The Consortium represents higher education institutions across the National Capitol Region. It's DC member institutions include American University, Catholic University, Gallaudet University, The George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Trinity Washington University and the University of the District of Columbia. The League of Women Voters of Washington DC is a state and local affiliate of the League of Women Voters of the United States – a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy.

EVENT LOGISTICS:

Seating within Lisner Auditorium will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Visitor parking will be available at the University Student Center Garage, located on H Street between 21st and 22nd streets, NW, however we encourage attendees to consider using public transportation. Sign language interpretation services will be provided on-site. For those planning on attending the Candidates Forum virtually, instructions regarding how to do so will be provided via email in the weeks to come following your registration.
