An action-packed, evocative and masterfully plotted medieval mystery in the critically acclaimed Owen Archer series, perfect for fans of C.J. Sansom, Ellis Peters and Paul Doherty.
Candace Robb loves spending time in the 14th century, so much so that she’s written 3 crime series set in the period, the Owen Archer and the Kate Clifford series set in York, and the Margaret Kerr series set in Scotland. She swears it’s just happenstance that her longest running series, the Owen Archer (15 books and writing) stars a sexy one-eyed spy. Severn House has re- released the first 10 in the series for the US and Canadian markets, while also publishing the ongoing books, the latest A Snake in the Barley. Publishers Weekly’s starred review of the previous book, A Fox in the Fold, said, “Excellent…This is a mystery with both high stakes and a layer of true feeling. Robb reinforces her place among the top writers of medieval historicals.” Candace lives in Seattle and considers York her second home. Visit her website and blog at www.candacerobbbooks.com.
A Kansas City native, JB Dickey vowed during his first PNW winter in Eugene for grad school that he’d never stay past the two-year program. That was 1981 and he’s rusted into this corner of the country. He’s done many jobs – bartender, taught painting, jazz dj, residential construction, hardware cashier – and he met Candace in 1993 while working at the Seattle Mystery Bookshop, which he did for all of the 27 years of its murderous history.
