The more the merrier!!! PSA, I’m so keen to I’m so keen to do this, I selected the wrong month! You all have another 4 weeks to prepare!Get your full moon-walk on and roll with us to cure rare disease. Let's save our little buddy Tallulah Moon Whitrod!
This Canbera Moonwalk is part of a global community of moonwalkers and we are calling Canberrians to join us to rally for the registered charity Our Moon's Mission: Genetic Cures for Kids.
Bikes, prams, scooters, walkers and wheelchairs welcome with walkers!
Wear a touch of pink, or go all out with the moon theme for this community event, dedicated to raising awareness and funds to cure the rare neurodegenerative disease, SPG56, affecting five-year-old Tallulah Moon and children like her.
This charity has been working tirelessly on a cure for SPG56, and finally has the hope of getting what was once an "untreatable disease" to clinical trial in Australia! Their biggest hurdle now is funding the manufacturing phase of a life-changing gene therapy.
• Full Moon Walk: a wheelchair/scooter/pram friendly moonlit Bridge to Bridge walk. Meet at the flags on the south side of the lake at 5.45 for a 6pm start.
• Treats planned for after the event to celebrate the full moon, Our Moon's Mission and the brilliance of genetic research.
This year's moonwalk magically coincides with the 56th anniversary of the historic moon landing on July 21, 1969. Just as humanity achieved the extraordinary feat of landing on the moon (SPG) 56 years ago (!) we are determined to conquer and cure SPG56. The science is there but the funds are not!
Bring your tribe. Gather your people. Walk with us under the moon on this significant night and let's make this moonshot possible!
