Can Masculinity Be Toxic? Exploring Gender Socialization in SA Communities

This compelling interactive event explores gendered expectations and influences for South Asian Americans. Join us as we examine the ways we have been socialized to view and perform gender roles and identity and how this informs our lived experiences and the way we show up in the world. Participants of this educatonal experience are warmly invited to learn, self-reflect, and dialogue about their experiences from their specific and unique cultural contexts. We will have a panel discussion featuring South Asian professionals with expertise in gender socialization, gendered violence, public health and mental health with a group discussion and Q &A immediately after long with take homes to continue this much needed conversation.

We are honored to have a powerhouse panel that will lead us in discussion:

1. Rahul Sharma, Psychologist, Founder of Stragegic Inclusion Consulting, and Founder of Funkadesi
2. Radhika Sharma Gordon, Expert of Gender Based Violence, Professor and Education and Outreach Specialist at Apna Ghar
3. Ankur Varma- Pyschotherapist specializing in destigmatizing mental health for South Asian men and founder of Brown Man Therapy.
4. Rebekah James Lovett- Coach and Consultant for People of the Global Majority and Founder of Thambusami Consulting.

Moderated by: Sharmili Majmudar, Gender Equity Specialist and Executive Vice President of Women Employed.
