A 3-day outdoor adventure camp exploring the full salmon lifecycle โ from freshwater streams to the open ocean.
Hosted by Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project, Camp COHO combines hands-on science, outdoor exploration, art, and stewardship to help students connect with Californiaโs watersheds and marine ecosystems.

๐ Parents/guardians are responsible for daily drop-off and pick-up at Long Marine Laboratory
๐ฒ Day 1 โ Freshwater Origins
Explore river ecology and redwood habitats at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park while learning about freshwater ecosystems and salmon habitat.
๐ Day 2 โ Survival & Conservation
Visit the COHO Conservation Hatchery to learn about salmon recovery, hatchery stewardship, fish biology, and Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Projectโs salmonid conservation efforts, while also exploring local Indigenous history and traditional land stewardship practices.
๐ Day 3 โ Ocean Connections
Explore the Scott Creek Estuary and visit Long Marine Laboratory to discover how ocean ecosystems connect to salmon survival and conservation.
๐จโ๐ซ Program Lead: Nathan Smith
Camp COHO is led by Nathan Smith, who holds a Masterโs degree in Education and has years of local teaching and outdoor education experience working with students in the Monterey Bay region.
Camp COHOโs mission is to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards through science, adventure, and conservation.
