CALL FOR ART: Retro Toy themed art for the April exhibit at HIVE artspaceSubmissions Due: March 15 (by midnight).
Exhibit dates: April 3-25, 2026.
We all had a favorite toy we have fond memories of, and maybe even long for in our adulthood. This exhibit celebrates the colorful, quirky, and iconic playthings that shaped generations, with artists reinterpreting beloved childhood toys. Blending nostalgia with fresh perspective, this show explores memory, identity, and the lasting cultural impact of the toys we treasured. I hope you will have fun with this exhibit, remembering what it felt like to play. All mediums welcome for submission.
There is no fee to submit artwork for consideration. Submitting artwork does not guarantee acceptance into the exhibit. All mediums are welcome.
SUBMISSION NOTES:
• Up to 3 submissions allowed. See important note below regarding submission images.
• There is no fee to submit, but there is a $5 exhibit fee for accepted artists ($5 total regardless of number of artworks accepted.)
• Gallery Commission is 35% on artworks sold.
• Final artwork must be ready-to-hang/display, we use single nail hanging on most works (sawtooth hangers ok, command strips are not).
TO SUBMIT (please read carefully):
Please send ONE E-MAIL with subject line TOYS2026 to [email protected] with **ALL** of the following items:
• Up to 3 submissions in jpeg or png format no larger than 3MB each. Images must clearly represent the work, as these images will be used in the accompanying on-line gallery. Watch for glare / background clutter, photographing them against a white or solid colored wall is best for our use. Indirect natural light will give you the truest colors and nicest lighting for your images. Please get them as "square" in the frame as possible.
• Your name, city & state as it should appear on exhibit materials.
• Title, medium, size*, price (in that order) for each artwork submitted. *Please include actual artwork size AND framed size as applicable.
• Any time constraints you may have, i.e. shipping, printing, or framing time needed.
• Link to more of your artwork on-line (optional, but highly recommended).
IMPORTANT DATES:
• Submissions due: March 15 by midnight.
• Drop-off for accepted artwork: March 28 & 29.
• Exhibit Opening: First Friday April 3, from 5-9.
• Exhibit Dates: April 3-25, 2026.
• End of show artwork pick-up: April 26.
