The Italian Band Calibro 35 plays Morricone, with songs from his crime and western movies like "Wake up and die", "A Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and more".
Since the band founding in 2007, “Il Maestro” Morricone represents a vital inspiration for all Calibro’s members: Tommaso Colliva, Massimo Martellotta, Enrico Gabrielli and Fabio Rondanini. The Italian composer, renowned worldwide for his soundtracks, is deeply rooted in the artistic activity of CALIBRO 35. “Trafelato” from the soundtrack of “Giornata per L’Ariete” was the first track recorded by Calibro 35 when the band first gathered in the studio on July 21 2007 and was later released in the band 2008’s self-titled debut album. "Il Maestro" has always been a source of inspiration for Calibro 35, traces of his work can be found in each of their seven studio albums. This visceral and profound relationship, based on deep research and study of his vast catalogue, led CALIBRO 35 in 2022 to dedicate a double album to Morricone, "SCACCO AL MAESTRO," an ambitious project that explores all the facets of Morricone’s work: from crime to western, and horror themes. The two volumes feature Italian and international artists such as Matthew Bellamy, Joan As Police Woman, Elisa, Diodato, Alessandro Cortini and Roy Paci. This event is just another milestone in CALIBRO 35's prolific international career: recognized worldwide as one of the coolest projects on the independent music scene, they have been sampled by artists like Dr. Dre in Compton ("One Shot One K*ll" feat. Snoop Dogg), Jay Z ("Picasso Baby"), The Child of Lov & Damon Albarn ("One Day") and Demigodz ("The Summer Of Sam"). They have played on stages all over Europe and collaborated, as individuals, with PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, John Parish, Muse, Stewart Copeland, and Rokia Traoré.
