Could you take on Moray and Highlands' most gruelling, but beautiful, hike and bike challenge on 23 May? Sponsored by Fred.Olsen Renewables, Cairngorm to Coast is an annual 100km challenge event organised by Outfit Moray, an outdoor learning and adventure charity based in Lossiemouth.
Your hike element starts in the Cairngorm Mountain car park at 9am where you will follow the old ski road and narrow forest tracks down through the Glenmore National Nature Reserve and into The Queen's Forest by Loch Morlich. From there you will be on forest tracks and paths as you through An Sluggan to pick up B970 for a short time before heading into Abernethy Forest and up to Nethy Bridge to pick up the Speyside Way.
From there you will follow the Speyside Way to the old Spey Valley Smokehouse car park and cross the A95 to pick up the Old Military Road. After you have gone over the beautiful old Spey Bridge you'll go through Anagach Woods and into Grantown on Spey, arriving at the Royal British Legion, 34km later!
Your bike and cycling kit will be waiting for you at Grantown, where you have the opportunity to grab some hot food before you get on your bike and head up the Dava Way to Forres. At Forres you will join the local Sustrans route, which takes you along quiet back roads to finish at Station Park in Lossiemouth, where you'll receive your medal to celebrate your efforts.
