African Drum and Dance Workshop with BK- Byron Bay
Kulcha Jam
Sunday March 29th
Drumming: 1:30 pm to 3 pm
Dancing: 3:30 pm to 5 pm
Open to everybody and anybody, you need only the willingness to learn and the desire to expand.
Complete beginners welcome.
BK (aka Bangoura Ke or Mohamed Bangoura) is one of the most patient, generous and experienced teachers of the music and dance of his people, the Susu/Malinke, of West Africa.
The djembe is his life!
The djembe and dance cannot be separated, they are one entity, one dynamic synergistic force.
Supported by Elliott Orr of Talkin' the Drum and Spankinhide, plus other talented drummers, this won't just be a couple of workshops. This will be a moment of immersion into the culture of djembe and African dance.
What a way to bring a whole lot of joy into your life!
The drumming workshop includes instruction on how to play the djembe and the facilitation of a traditional African rhythm.
The dance workshop will be a dynamic exploration of African dance in the Guinean style.
No experience required to participate.
Plenty of djembes available.
