We are delighted to bring you this very special workshop with Aunty Vivienne Hansen. Vivienne will give a Welcome to Country, then generously share some of her knowledge on bush tucker and bush medicine plants with a Q & A session. We will walk with Vivienne around our area to identify some local plants and end with an afternoon tea featuring some delicious bush tucker from Bindi Bindi Dreaming.
Vivienne Hansen is a Balladong Wadjuk yorga (woman) from the Bibbulman Nation. She is a published author and horticulturalist and learnt about traditional medicine as a child from her grandfather, elder aunts, uncles and cousins. Vivienne completed the Certificate IV in Bush and Western Herbal Medicine and became the first Indigenous member of the National Herbalist Association of Australia. She was a presenter at the 7th International Conference on Herbal Medicine in 2010. Her books titled Noongar Bush Medicine: Medicinal Plants of the South-West of Western Australia and Noongar Bush Tucker: Bush Food Plants and Fungi of the South-West of Western Australia are available through UWA Publishing.
