About this Event

Join us as we expand our exploration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution with a trip to Historic Quincy to learn about John Adams. Adams, one of the most important thinkers of the Revolutionary era, continues to fascinate people. This bus tour will explore his legacy in greater detail.

After a short ride by private motorcoach, the Public Historian of the City of Quincy will meet us for a walking tour entitled “The Heart of Quincy”, which will include a visit to the final resting place of John Adams in the Church of the Presidents. After this educational walking tour, we will be greeted at the Quincy Historical Society for a guided visit of their impressive historical collection.

Then, it’s off to the beautiful Marina Bay where you can enjoy lunch on your own and some free time overlooking the waterfront. The afternoon will be spent with a National Park Ranger at the Adams Historical Site, Peacefield, the home of John Adams for the last twenty-seven years of his life. Our comfortable motorcoach will then return us to Bristol. Traffic? No worries. Our professional driver will do all the work!

The Bus will depart from the BH&PS Headquarters, 48 Court Street, Bristol at 8am. Parking is readily available in the lot across the street. The bus will return to the BH&PS Headquarters at 6-6:30pm (subject to traffic). Included in ticket price: motorcoach transportation to Quincy MA, guided walking tour of Historic Quincy and visit to the Quincy Historical Society, entrance fee and guided tour of the Adams National Park.

The BH&PS seeks to stimulate interest in the history of Bristol, Rhode Island, through education, research, and the collection and preservation of historic objects. Bristol has a rich and vibrant history, and the BH&PS is excited to explore this history in as many ways as possible. Keep an eye on our website for even more to come!

As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, this moment invites Rhode Islanders and visitors alike to explore the diverse stories, bold acts, and shared dreams that shaped the birth of our nation. The Bristol250 Commission looks to reflect on our nation’s journey, recognize the contributions of Americans across generations, and envision the future we’ll build together. History comes alive here, come be part of it!

This event is supported in part by a grant from the Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission (RI250).
