Burlesque for Beginners introduces participants to the creative and theatrical side of burlesque performance. This class focuses on self‑expression, storytelling through movement, and building confidence in your body and stage persona.
You’ll learn:
- Foundational burlesque movements such as struts, shimmies, and expressive gestures
- How to develop character and stage presence
- Techniques for connecting with an audience through humor, rhythm, and emotion
- Ways to celebrate your individuality and creativity through costume and movement
This class is about empowerment and artistry — not about nudity or sexual performance. All instruction is fully clothed and centered on dance, confidence, and creative expression.

About Your Instructor
Goddess Mak is a Chicago‑born, Denver‑based performer, educator, and producer known for her dynamic stage presence and commitment to empowerment through art. As a proud Black queer woman, she brings over 15 years of experience in performance and community education. Mak leads workshops on creative movement, confidence building, and empowerment, and produces burlesque shows that celebrate diversity and self‑expression.
