No egg-cuses, add this ride to your calendar today! Everybunny is going. An 80 mile round trip ride to Art History Brewing in Geneva, IL. There is also the option of cutting the ride in half by taking the Metra back to the city. It's a pretty popular option when the weather isn't ideal or when the drink are too ideal.
Meet at the shop at 9am. Because it's a holiday, we do a slow roll out of the shop around 9:05. I'll have the door open so we can wait inside, fill bottles, or get anything last minute.
The ride is strictly no drop while leaving the city. We'll stop lights and wait for riders that miss it. No need to take any chances, just shout out if you notice the group getting away from you for any reason.
We cross the Des Plaines river at Thatcher Woods(mile 8). The bathroom there is usually open and we stop for a quick regroup, and check-in. This is the edge of the city, and the strict no-drop rule is relaxed.
This is not a race ride, but everybody wants to ride up the hills at their own pace. Most folks ride road bikes, but some join us on gravel bikes. There is always a group that pushes the pace, but most will see a rolling speed of about 17-18mph.
Half way to the brewery(mile 18), we'll hit up the Dunkin' Donuts in Lombard for a quick bathroom and pastry stop.
We usually arrive about 12:30pm. The brewery doesn't have a kitchen, but the China Wok, located next door, serves a decent fried rice and crab rangoons. We roll back to the city at 2:30pm. Metra train back to city is at 2:40pm
The ride back to the city is usually a quicker pace as it's mostly down hill and people are trying to get home before dark.
21+ years old please. Helmets required. Lights required if you are biking back to the city. Self supported. Bring flat repair kit and know how to use it. This isn't a drop/race ride, but you'll want to be comfortable riding in a group and rotating in a paceline.
