An intimate, soulful and bewitching evening at The Folklore Rooms — two songwriting duos, fronted by two formidable female singers at the height of their powers.Bungaroosh:- Matty Eeles is gifted with a richly resonant voice — a sonic prism that refracts through blues, soul and folk, into an eclectic spectrum beyond. She can soar with operatic intensity, or slip into playful improvisation that dances around jazz, funk and other textures. Her lyrics combine old-school storytelling with a life-affirming reverie.
Alongside her, Ben Jones provides earthy, groove-led piano and keyboards, with touches of funk, spiritual jazz and psychedelic colour. In this stripped-back setting, the music reveals the heart of the songs and the chemistry between the performers.
Faye Houston commands the room with a voice that mesmerises, uplifts and reaches deep inside, a rare and transformative talent. She is joined by guitarist and co-writer Mike Shirley, whose playing is both dazzling and sensitive.
A duo of duos! Two voices, a piano, a guitar, in a cosy, intimate space — limited seats, so grab yours.
