About this Event
During this FREE 6-week program, Built to Run participants will learn running skills, engage in fun team building activities, and mental skills curriculum that will teach them important topics such as goal setting and mindfulness. Open to all skill levels of running/jogging/walking - no previous experience necessary.
Built to Run will be led by Girls Forward REAL Role Models, women ages 21+ that are Relatable, Empowered, Active Leaders in the community who are passionate about inspiring girls in sport and physical activity and creating safe, welcoming, inclusive spaces!
PROGRAM DETAILS (PLEASE READ EVERYTHING)
Where:
- Drop-off and pick-up at Rocky Mountain Soap Company, Calgary Market Mall Storefront (INSIDE THE MALL!) (3625 Shaganappi Trail NW)
- They will be running OUTDOORS in a nearby green space (SEE IMAGE BELOW FOR MAP). Sessions will continue rain or shine, unless there is thunder/lightening. In case of cancellations, you will be informed via email.
Dates:
- Tuesdays
- April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19 (6 sessions total)
Time:
- 5:20-6:45pm
- Please arrive ON TIME (5:20pm) at the Rocky store IN THE MALL - we cannot guarantee we'll wait as we need to stay on schedule, thanks!
- Please arrive for pick-up no later than 6:45pm at the store in the mall
What To Bring and Wear:
- Comfortable/athletic clothing they can run in
- Check weather and temperature to dress appropriately
- Close-toed shoes (eg. running shoes) (NO SANDALS, CROCS)
- Water bottle
! FREE TICKET TO CELEBRATION EVENT: 2026 GIRLS RUN !
- The Built to Run program is meant to prepare participants to run in our annual Girls Run event at the Canmore Nordic Centre and celebrate with other girls from all over Alberta!
- Girls Run for Built to Run participants is on Sunday May 24th, 8:30am-10:30am
- Choice of running 1km or 2.5km
- What's included: A free ticket, a Girls Forward shirt, swag bag, and lots of fun!
- FREE TRANSPORTATION ALSO INCLUDED! School bus pick-up in parking lot directly outside of Landmark Cinemas at Market Mall at 7:15am; school bus will drop-off at same location around 11:30am, depending on traffic. For girls only, not parents - a Girls Forward staff will be on bus to supervise.
