About this Event
Please join us for our 2026 Spring seminar series on “Entrepreneurship in Asian High-Tech Industries.” Each year, this series surveys the most recent trends, patterns, and challenges of entrepreneurship in Asia and their relevance to Silicon Valley and the U.S. Guest speakers include entrepreneurs, investors and mentors, and other experts on the current entrepreneurial ecosystems of major Asia economies.
On May 12th, Dominic McDonald, Founder & CEO of ULAP, will share his entrepreneurial journey building a global telecommunications platform, highlighting lessons on cross-border growth, leadership, and enabling seamless connectivity for enterprises operating across regions.
Dr. Richard Dasher, Director of the US-Asia Technology Management Center, will serve as moderator.
About our speaker:
Dominic McDonald is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive of ULAP Networks, a Singapore-headquartered sovereign communications infrastructure company delivering intelligent cloud connectivity and telephony solutions to enterprise clients across more than 114 countries. Founded in 2017, ULAP has grown from its Asia base into a globally recognized telecom infrastructure player, earning recognition as a Top Global SIP and Cloud Voice vendor by UC Today and becoming a service-provider member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) from Brunei Darussalam.
Under Dominic’s leadership, ULAP has secured telecommunications licenses across multiple jurisdictions — including Brunei, Japan, and Indonesia — and established a presence across all five ASEAN markets, with operations extending into Silicon Valley and partnerships with Fortune 500 enterprises worldwide. ULAP’s sovereign-ready, cloud-agnostic platform enables multinational organizations to navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver resilient communications at scale.
Dominic is a passionate advocate for child online protection and has represented ULAP as a panelist at International Telecommunication Union workshops on the subject.
