About this Event
At a time when workforce shortages, skills development and long-term participation are becoming increasingly important national and regional priorities, the event will provide practical insight and discussion around how meaningful opportunities and clearer pathways into construction careers can be created for young people: particularly those who may be disengaged, disaffected, or facing wider barriers to employment and opportunity.
The event will include presentations and sector insight from:
• Mace Dragados
• Dudley College (CTEC)
• MPB Structures
• M & J Evans
The programme will also feature contributions from young people currently working within the construction industry, offering first-hand perspectives on entering the sector, workplace progression and the barriers many young people continue to face.
Topics explored throughout the event will include:
• workforce and skills challenges
• apprenticeships and vocational pathways
• employer engagement and retention
• progression and long-term opportunity
• barriers affecting young people entering employment
• collaboration across industry, training and support organisations
Presentations will be followed by an open forum discussion bringing together employers, construction representatives, education providers, youth organisations and wider sector stakeholders.
Whether you work across construction, employment support, skills, housing, education, social value or youth services, Building Pathways into Construction offers an opportunity to connect with others across the sector and contribute to wider conversations around workforce development and inclusive opportunity.
