About this Event
The grand civic buildings and spaces around Nathan Phillips Square have quite the story to tell. Embedded into their designs – through form, material choices, stylistic expression and orientation – are the values, priorities and cultural heritage of those who built them, and the image of our city they wanted to project to the world. Reflecting on this year’s Doors Open theme, join the Toronto Society of Architects on a visit to four buildings and landscapes that together help tell the story of our city. From the late-Palladian Osgoode Hall to the modern City Hall, guides will break down how each stop captures a moment in Toronto’s evolution and the role design can play in expressing civic spirit. The tour ends at the Spirit Garden, a new space that returns the visibility of Indigenous history and culture to the heart of Toronto.
