About this Event
Builder Day: Help Construct the Bridge to Wellness
Roll up your sleeves and help us build the structure that will hold 700,000 threads of hope.
This is our official Builder Day for The Bridge from Illness to Wellness—a large-scale, interactive installation opening this May at Queen City Art for Mental Health Awareness Month.
We’ve been bundling the threads…
Now it’s time to build what holds them.
🔨 What We’re Building
On April 18, we’ll be constructing the scaffolding + support structures for the bridge—
the framework that will carry thousands of individual stories, connections, and moments of courage.
No construction experience needed—just a willingness to help.
🧰 What to Bring (If You Can)
We’re calling on our community builders, makers, and helpers:
- Scrap wood (2x2s or 1x3s, minimum 10 inches long)
- Hand tools (drills, saws, hammers)
- Paint brushes + supplies
- Work gloves (optional but helpful)
Don’t have materials? Come anyway—we need hands just as much as tools.

💛 Why It Matters
Over 230 people die by suicide each day in the U.S.
This bridge is a response—
a physical, walk-through reminder that connection is what carries us through.
When you help build this structure, you’re helping create something that will hold thousands of stories—and potentially save lives.
✨ Who Should Come
- Builders, makers, and creatives
- People who like working with their hands
- Anyone who wants to be part of something meaningful
- First-timers welcome
🌉 Be Part of the Build
This is more than construction—
it’s collective healing in action.
