About this Event
Being prepared doesn’t have to be overwhelming - and in the Bow Valley, it matters more than you might think.
Join CYAN, and the Towns of Banff & Canmore for an interactive Emergency Preparedness Week workshop designed to help young adults build confidence and practical skills for navigating local emergencies and disasters.
Together, we’ll explore the hazards that can impact our region, what to expect during an emergency, and how personal preparedness can make a real difference for you and your community. Through guided discussion and hands-on activities, you’ll build your own emergency preparedness kit to take home (valued at $100 per participant!) packed with practical supplies and resources to help you get started.
Whether you’re new to the Bow Valley or just haven’t gotten around to making a plan yet, this beginner-friendly session is a great way to get informed, feel empowered, and connect with others in your community.
What to expect:
- Discussion on local hazards and emergency risks in the Bow Valley
- Overview of what happens during emergencies/disasters
- Practical preparedness tips and planning guidance
- Hands-on emergency kit building activity
- Q&A and informal mingle time
Participants will leave with:
- A personalized emergency preparedness kit valued at $100
- Practical emergency planning resources and guides
- Tools to continue building their own household emergency plan at home
