We will start off the day in the classroom, going over an introduction to container gardening with dry desert plants. This will detail pot selections, media/soil that should be used, watering needs, and lighting needs. Then we will walk through the botanical garden and look at specimens and how to use desert plants in your home garden. A good amount of cactus should be in flower, so bring a camera as these will be prime photo opportunities. Finally, we will be assembling your own take-home desert planter.Each person will receive one planter (14 in. x 5-3/4 in. H), cactus media, a cactus of your choice, an aloe plant, a sempervivum, and one agave (species that remain small approx. 4”). There will be some additional goodies as well to add to your containers. You will have the ability to buy additional plants to add to your display as well.
